Abstract
This paper examines turbofan noise radiation characteristics of both the inlet and the aft ducts through finite element solutions. The predicted far-field principal lobe angle variations with cut-off ratio, duct Mach number and external flow Mach number compare very well with the available analytical results. The solutions also show that the far-field lobe angle is only a function of cut-off ratio, and nearly independent of the mode number. The ability of the codes to handle ducts with acoustic treatments is also demonstrated.
