Abstract

The results of investigations based on 1H and 13C NMR and GPC show that during the synthesis of an oligoester acrylate via interaction of methacrylic and adipic acids with pentaerythritol the four OH groups of the latter behave as independent reactive centres. The amounts of all 15 possible fragments of oligomer molecules (pentaerythritol residues containing differing numbers of free and acylated OH groups) have been determined and their distribution is shown to be described by Bernulli statistics. The composition and MW of the oligomer have been calculated.
