Abstract

A nine level inverter fed induction motor drive with power factor correction is employed to reduce the total harmonic distortion and to improve the overall power factor. In this work, the authors proposed the idea of PFC converter at the input of multilevel inverter fed induction motor drive. Case studies of a nine level inverter fed induction motor with PFC are presented. The simulations results with L filter, T filter and boost converter are presented. The drive system has advantages like reduced THD and improved power factor. The simulations results are validated by comparing with hardware results.
