Abstract
The MardiGrass is a very popular Australian festival celebrated in Nimbin, which is a tiny village in north-eastern New South Wales. It focuses on illicit drug cannabis. The MardiGrass offers a range of expressions, events, displays and possibilities, reflecting the diversity of the cannabis users who organise and gather to celebrate, the MardiGrass. The focus on an illegal drug not only lends an unusual tension to the experience, but also a sense of liberation.
