Abstract

Recent molecular and pathological studies indicate that endometriosis may serve as a precursor of ovarian cancer (endometriosis-associated ovarian cancer, EAOC), especially of the endometrioid and clear cell subtypes. Although histological and epidemiological studies have demonstrated the endometriosis has malignant potential, the molecular mechanism underlying the malignant transformation of endometriosis is still needed to be elucidated. Nowadays, the development and improvement of new sequencing technology, next-generation sequencing (NGS) has been increasingly in cancer genomics research.
