Abstract
I sincerely appreciate the strong support of all the members of the Japanese Urological Association (JUA) and Urological Association of Asia (UAA), and of the many readers of International Journal of Urology (IJU). As you may know, IJU celebrated its 25th anniversary last year. As one of the memorial events, we held an “IJU Reception” at the 2018 Annual European Association of Urology Congress in Copenhagen, Denmark, through the kindness of the European Association of Urology. More than 150 urologists from Europe, the USA, Asia, Japan, and so on attended together and enjoyed friendly conversations, as well as nice drinks and snacks. From May 2018, we newly launched a peer-reviewed open access sister journal, named IJU Case Reports specializing in clinical case reports. The first issue was published online in November. We intend hereafter to publish it every other month and aim to add it to PubMed Central in the near future. We sincerely look forward to your submission on your unique and valuable patient case in urology. Of course, we offer a discount publication charge for JUA society members. There are substantial numbers of case report journals published, but we strongly believe that IJU Case Reports will be one of the best for you. The latest impact factor of IJU is 1.941. IJU has acquired a solid position in the urology field. We will continue to deliver high-quality articles on urology practice. We will also keep focusing on the following items: (i) having high-quality submissions; (ii) keeping good reviewers; (iii) collaborating with UAA and international editors; and (iv) continuing to speed up the review process. In addition, we are planning to publish the English summary of the JUA's clinical practice guidelines whenever they are newly edited. IJU has already taken the first step toward the next great 25 years. The younger sister, IJU Case Reports, has also started to walk. Once again, we look forward to your continued cooperation, and support from all of the JUA and UAA members. None declared.
