Abstract
Abstract Hibolithes arkelli grantmackiei Challinor n. subsp. has been collected from Upper Ohauan-Lower Puaroan strata in the Ahuroa Valley, Waingaro, and Kawhia regions of South-west Auckland. It is a belemnite whose guard is characterised by moderate hastation, a compressed cross section, and a weakly developed ventral groove. H. arkelli grantmackiei is similar in some respects to H. minor and in many respects to H. arkelli arkelli. Its vertical range is limited and it appears to be confined to the topmost Kinohaku Siltstone and the lower Waiharakeke Conglomerate.
