Abstract

Abstract The topic of lightweight construction plays a central role in vehicle construction and in the sheet metal processing industry. Lightweight materials for body structures such as high-strength boron-manganese steels, which are formed at process temperatures of 700 to 900°C before quenching, are of major importance here. For material characterization as an important requirement in the design of forming processes, it is required to determine the forming limit curves conforming to DIN EN ISO 12004-2. However, there are limits for a temperature range above 600°C in the determination of the FLC. To overcome these difficulties, a new tool concept was developed for the isothermal determination of forming limits.
