Abstract

A new pheromone trap for Cydia pomonella (L.), made from paper and plastic cups, cheaper to purchase and use than existing traps, is described. The paper cup was simply a holder attached to a limb. The plastic cup, with lid, had three holes in the side near the top through which the moths entered. The septum containing pheromone was suspended from the lid. The bottom of the cup contained propylene glycol which trapped the moths. Trap efficiency was comparable to standard sticky traps or Sectar traps, but required less maintenance.
