Abstract

Several traditional assumptions behind business policy and management are being replaced with new concepts, especially in business/government relations, management/labor relations, industry/ecosystem relations, and relations between business firms. Some industrial activities and byproducts enrich the ecosystem, including strip mining in some areas and heated water discharge from factories. Management/labor relations may emphasize mutually beneficial combinations of individual differences among workers instead of majority rule or consensus. New concepts are needed for multiindustry joint ventures between many types of industries. Instead of passive incentives such as detaxation, government must provide industries with various active incentives.
