Abstract

An outstanding characteristic of the “new” contrast media for angiography — also called the “new generation” of contrast media — is their low osmolality and consequent low osmotic pressure. Compared with conventional agents, the incidence of osmotic side effects is lower. Benefits are expected in the form of improved tolerance and reduced examination risk, especially in angiography when visualization of the arterial system calls for injection of large doses at high flow.KeywordsContrast AgentContrast MediumIodine ContentHeat SensationConventional AgentThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
