Abstract

The Internet is rapidly changing and evolving. The present communication form of Internet is interaction between human to human. The future demand of internet is Internet of Things (IOT) that useful for machine-to-machine interaction to increase the efficiency and quality of the system. The demand of IOT is rapidly increasing and becoming an integral part of wireless communication which is used for many applications such as home automation, health care, industrial process control. It is expected that in future the number of IOT devices increases rapidly. This paper provides the details of general IOT architecture. It also provides a wider sense of IOT interconnection technologies which are used for development of intelligent systems. There are various wireless IOT technologies are developed to support the requirements of smart communication among the objects. In this paper, the existing short range communication technologies in terms of technical parameters are discussed and the future challenges for network interface and massive connectivity are identified. Further, to address these challenges, the different emerging and promising network communication technologies are discussed and summarized in terms of advantages and limitations. Various IOT applications which can be implemented by using this technology are identified. There are various IOT applications in different area of our day-to-day life. Moreover, the key challenges of IOT field are discussed. The main aim to provide a framework to the applications developer that what are the possible interconnection technologies and challenges to be considered while designing the IOT applications.
