Abstract

A transverse equivalent network representation for partially dielectric filled single and asymmetrical double groove guides are presented in this paper. Based on this, the dispersion characteristics of various groove guides are analysed by the microwave network approach. Some comparisons are made between the data obtained by the present method and those by others, and very good agreement has been found. It is justified that by using the present analysis the calculation procedure of the problem can be significantly simplified with very high accuracy. As an example of using the present approach to analyse the components composed of groove guides, the theoretical performance of the partially dielectric filled asymmetrical groove guide directional coupler has been calculated to demonstrate how flat coupling can be obtained with this kind of coupler.
