Abstract

Electron-impact excitation of the 5p5 6slevels of Xe has been studied within a 43-state semi-relativisticR-matrix(close-coupling) approach in the near-threshold region. The angle-integrated andangle-differential cross sections for all four fine-structure states and the angle-resolvedvacuum ultra-violet emitted radiation intensity and polarization from the 5p5 6s(J = 1)states are obtained and compared with experimental data. The negative-ionresonances are analysed in detail.
