Abstract

In article number 2101664, Xiaoli Sun, Yuechen Jia, Feng Chen, and co-workers report on the ultrafast pulse generation using a novel saturable mirror based on BK7 glass wafer with embedded silver nanoparticles. Such saturable absorber mirror possesses the combined advantages of broadband response, cost-effective features of low-dimensional materials, and high stability of commercial semiconductor saturable absorber mirrors. It shows strong nonlinear optical modulation properties and ultrafast recovery time based on localized surface plasmon resonance effect. The laser performance is excellent with the pulse width as short as 324 fs and a maximum output power of 0.48 W.
