Abstract

The upconversion emission studies of Er3+/Yb3+/Tm3+ doped PbZrTiO3 ceramic as a function of different thulium concentrations (0.05, 0.10, 0.15, and 0.20 mol %) are synthesized via a high temperature assisted solid state reaction route. Under 980 nm laser excitation, upconverted emission bands centered at 479, 525, 545, 655, 680 and 800 nm have been observed due to the transitions (1G4→3H6), (2H11/2→4I15/2), (4S3/2→4I15/2), (4F9/2→4I15/2), (3F3→3H6), and (3H4→3H6), respectively. As the thulium concentration increases, the upconverted luminescence intensity increases and, at Tm = 0.15 mol% concentration, the strongest upconversion emission is shown by the sample. The pump power dependence of the upconversion emission intensity has been observed for the optimized sample. Further, the temperature dependent dielectric response of the optimized sample has also been studied.
