Abstract

Conflict of interest: none declared. A 12‐year‐old boy presented with multiple, asymptomatic, reddish‐blue skin lesions arranged linearly on the left leg and buttock, which had been present since birth. The lesions had been gradually increasing in size, number and thickness to involve almost the entire left leg. There was a history of bleeding after minor injury. The boy had been using a topical ointment of unknown nature, without any relief. There was no history of preceding trauma, systemic problems, or any family history of similar lesions. On physical examination, multiple, discrete and grouped, reddish‐blue patches were seen, interspersed with similar lesions with scaly plaques of 4–50 mm in diameter, arranged linearly along the lines of Blaschko on the posterior left buttock, the entire left leg and the foot (Fig. 1a,b). The linear bands were discontinuous in places. The length and circumference of both legs was equal. Systemic examination, routine haematological investigations and X‐ray and duplex ultrasound of the left leg gave normal results.
