Abstract

A novel kind of self-assembled vesicles for drug delivery has been prepared by N,N-dilauryl chitosan. The drug-release behavior of the vesicles can be changed by adjusting molecular weight of chitosan and adding additives, such as cholesterol. The drug-releasing rates of the vesicles made from larger molecular weight of chitosan are slower than that from smaller molecular weight of chitosan, and drug-releasing equilibrium amount as well. The additive can obviously raise the drug-releasing rates of the vesicles, especially for the vesicles made from larger-molecular-weight chitosan.
