Abstract

We performed skull base surgery in 4 cases of benign head and neck tumors between 1990 and 1992. 1) Diseases included a schwannoma of the ethmoid sinus, a schwannoma of the parapharyngeal space, a chordoma and a papilloma of the ethmoid sinus. 2) Anterior skull base surgery was performed for schwannoma and papilloma of the ethmoid sinus, and middle skull base surgery was performed for chordoma and schwannoma of the parapharyngeal space. 3) It has become possible to perform radical surgery for benign head and neck tumors invading the skull base.
