Abstract

To keep pace with advances in factory automation, systems for generating torque such as for numerically controlled machinery and industrial robots are required to detect a torque and produce a corresponding detecting signal to control the generating system.Remarkable progress has been made recently in the ac servo system owing to its being a maintenance-free system. Controllability comparable to a dc motor is needed even in an induction motor. This paper presents a built-in type amorphous torque sensor for an induction motor, using rectangular amorphous ribbons with field-induced magnetic anisotropy and noncontact magnetic heads.
