Abstract

In the previous report, the authors pointed out, on the basis of the Web questionnaire results, that hot water wastage and the unnecessary ignition of the gas water heater could be attributed to how the single-lever kitchen faucet was used. This study implements experiments that involve volunteer users and use a water-saving single-lever faucet which has been developed to tackle these issues, with the intention of understanding quantitatively the water-saving effect of the faucet. Here, with reference to the indices proposed for evaluating water-saving effects, the water-saving effect of the aforementioned single-lever faucet is compared to that of a conventional type, for a certain period of time during a summer term, an intermediate term and a winter term, and the effectiveness thereof is indicated accordingly.
