Abstract
日本の鮮新・更新統から産出する長鼻類化石各種の出現年代を，最近の知見に基づいて整理し，大陸産の関係の深い種の産出層準と比較することで，日本列島と大陸の間に陸橋が形成された時期を推定した．西方ルート（東シナ海あるいは黄海経由）が形成された時期は，中新世/鮮新世境界付近，120万年前，63万年前，43万年前と考えられる．このルートの陸橋は，鮮新世中頃にも存在した可能性がある．また最終氷期の初期には，北方ルート（大陸—サハリン—北海道）の陸橋が形成されたと考えられる．
