Abstract
The characteristics of a rising air flow from a range with a hood fan in a kitchen are studied. The followings are clarified.(1) The updraft from a range is clearly visualized.(2) The air flow distribution above a range is characterized by a clear updraft from the range.(3) When the power of a range is 2.5kw, the capture ratio of the steamy exhaust gas from a pot or a kettle on the range by the hood is 100% if the total exhaust air volume exceeds 300m 3/h.
