Abstract
A method for calculating prompt neutron life times in the thermal neutron reactor with reflector has been developed and prompt neutron life times in D2O moderated spherical reactor with D2O reflector have been calculated.Reflector materials have low thermal neutron absorption cross section, in comparison with core materials, so that resident time of neutron in reflector is usually longer than that in core. Therefore, prompt neutron life time is expected to be strongly affected by neutrons which are produced by fission in core, spend time in reflector and are absorbed in core. To evaluate contributions of such neutrons to prompt neutron life time, two group albedo theory is used in this paper.
