Abstract
Extensive research work in the field of inflammatory myopathies over the past years has given us new insights into the classification and treatment of myositis. The myositis drug pipeline has never been stronger, although it is too early to know which products will eventually reach the market. Furthermore, in our review we try to summarize the latest German guidelines and recommendations on myositis that were recently published in June 2022. After reading this article, you should be able to describe practical considerations regarding the diagnosis, classification, and management of inflammatory myopathies. Additionally, you will be able to recognize myositis subgroups with apoor prognosis.
