Abstract

Reindeer moss samples taken in 2009–2010 in northern European Russia (Murmansk oblast, Karelia) are found to be extensively and multiply contaminated with mycotoxins. The possibility of the development on reindeer moss of individual species of toxic fungi belonging to the genera Penicillium, Aspergillus, Alternaria, and Fusarium is discussed.
