Music, Identity, Culture and Adolescents: Bibliometric Analysis During the Research Period (2016–2025)
This bibliometric study analyses scientific output over the last 10 years on music using the following keywords “youth”, “culture” and “education”. Based on a sample of 904 documents extracted from the Web of Science database, the research analyses emerging trends in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia, in patterns of collaboration between authors and countries, and the main topics related to music, culture, identity and young people. To this end, we have applied a quantitative bibliometric methodology, using the Biblioshiny tool from RStudio, generating frequency network maps, multiple correspondence analysis and thematic graphs showing the relationships between keywords and those used by authors. The results show that the United States is the leading scientific producer in this field. The two main terms obtained in the analysis are popular culture and popular music, in addition to related concepts such as identity, gender and education, among others. In conclusion, this study shows how globalisation alters popular culture by influencing the behaviour of adolescents. The research is limited in terms of contributions from the Global South, given the database used, but it is presented as an inclusion in future lines of research.

To conduct a bibliometric analysis, several researchers retrieve publications from Scopus or/and Web of Science (WOS) databases. When these scholars consider both Scopus and WOS databases, they mostly make two bibliometric analysis: one from Scopus database and the other from WOS database. A few researchers merge the two databases to conduct a single analysis, but they do not specify how they did it. This paper aims to advance the bibliometric analysis by addressing two points. First, this research claims that making a bibliometric analysis that takes information from Scopus or/and separately from WOS cannot give a broader view of knowledge and tendencies in a field. To prove this claim, we retrieve papers from Scopus and WOS databases to make a bibliometric analysis of sales force literature that covers from 1912 to 2019. Results show that there are many disparities between WOS and merged database, and between this latter and WOS database regarding bibliometric analyses, especially among primary productive authors, the most influential papers, and keyword occurrences. Second, this research proposes a four-step procedure that merges these two databases to allow more reliable bibliometric analyses. This procedure was explicitly shown by using the bibliometric analysis of sales force literature during 1912–2019.

PurposeThis study aims to provide a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of sports sponsorship research over the last 3 decades (1993–2024). By mapping the intellectual landscape of this field, the study seeks to identify key trends, prominent themes and the most influential authors and journals. Furthermore, the research addresses the ongoing challenge of evaluating the effectiveness of sponsorship investments, particularly in the digital age. The goal is to highlight emerging research areas.Design/methodology/approachThis study employs a bibliometric analysis using the SPAR-4-SLR protocol to systematically review the literature on sports sponsorship from 1993 to 2024. Data were sourced from the Web of Science (WoS) database, filtering results for articles written in English and excluding non-academic publications. A combination of bibliometric techniques – co-citation, co-word and co-authorship network analysis – was applied to examine intellectual structures and trends in the field. The Bibliometrix software was used for data analysis, providing a comprehensive evaluation of research productivity, collaboration patterns and emerging themes.FindingsThe bibliometric analysis reveals a significant increase in global sports sponsorship research, with a 12.69% annual growth rate from 1993 to 2024. Key themes such as corporate social responsibility (CSR), consumer behaviour and government regulation emerged as central topics. The study also highlights growing research interest in digital sponsorships, particularly within the eSports industry. Additionally, co-authorship analysis demonstrates increasing international collaboration, with 30.2% of publications involving multiple countries. The findings provide a clearer understanding of the intellectual landscape of sports sponsorship and suggest emerging research opportunities, particularly in digital marketing and advanced data analytics.Research limitations/implicationsThe analysis relies solely on the WoS database, which may have excluded relevant publications indexed in other databases such as Scopus or Google Scholar. Although WoS provides high-quality data, future research should integrate multiple databases to achieve a more comprehensive coverage of the field. Additionally, this study focuses primarily on articles published in English, potentially overlooking significant contributions from non-English sources.Originality/valueThis study provides a unique contribution by conducting the first comprehensive bibliometric analysis of sports sponsorship research over a 30-year period (1993–2024). By applying the SPAR-4-SLR protocol, it identifies emerging research areas such as the integration of big data and the role of psychophysiological methods in measuring sponsorship effectiveness. The research also highlights the increasing importance of digital sponsorship in industries like eSports. This work offers new insights into global collaboration patterns and reveals underexplored topics like the balance between global and local sponsorship strategies, thus providing valuable directions for future research and practical applications.

Fireflies are very attractive insects that have obtained a lot of attention from nature tourists in recent years and firefly tourism has the potential to bring in a lot of income for local communities, states, regions, and even countries. Therefore, this study presents a literature review and bibliometric analysis of firefly tourism and fireflies Coleoptera Lampyridae research around the world from 2000 to 2022 to provide researchers and scholars around the world with a visualization or analyzing of the global mapping research trends results using RStudio 4.2.0 and Biblioshiny. A textual query on two databases; Scopus (643 articles), and Web of Science (78 articles) was performed on 12 June 2022 retrieving 721 scholarly articles from 2000 to 2022 for in-depth analysis. According to the findings of the analysis, there is a significant inconsistency of global trends in annual scientific production, with the number of publications increasing and decreasing. The United States of America (USA) has the highest number of scientific productions, as the most relevant author is Viviani VR (Scopus) and Lewis SM in Web of Science (WoS) database, while the most relevant journal is Zootaxa in Scopus and Web of Science database, and the most frequent word is “bioluminescence” in Scopus database but the word “Lampyridae” is the most used word in the Web of Science database. BackgroundThe global targets for HIV testing for achieving the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) 95-95-95 targets are still short. Identifying gaps and opportunities for HIV testing uptake is crucial in fast-tracking the second (initiate people living with HIV on antiretroviral therapy) and third (viral suppression) UNAIDS goals. Machine learning and health technologies can precisely predict high-risk individuals and facilitate more effective and efficient HIV testing methods. Despite this advancement, there exists a research gap regarding the extent to which such technologies are integrated into HIV testing strategies worldwide.ObjectiveThe study aimed to examine the characteristics, citation patterns, and contents of published studies applying machine learning and emerging health technologies in HIV testing from 2000 to 2024.MethodsThis bibliometric analysis identified relevant studies using machine learning and emerging health technologies in HIV testing from the Web of Science database using synonymous keywords. The Bibliometrix R package was used to analyze the characteristics, citation patterns, and contents of 266 articles. The VOSviewer software was used to conduct network visualization. The analysis focused on the yearly growth rate, citation analysis, keywords, institutions, countries, authorship, and collaboration patterns. Key themes and topics were driven by the authors’ most frequent keywords, which aided the content analysis.ResultsThe analysis revealed a scientific annual growth rate of 15.68%, with an international coauthorship of 8.22% and an average citation count of 17.47 per document. The most relevant sources were from high-impact journals such as the Journal of Internet Medicine Research, JMIR mHealth and uHealth, JMIR Research Protocols, mHealth, AIDS Care-Psychological and Socio-Medical Aspects of AI, and BMC Public Health, and PLOS One. The United States of America, China, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Australia produced the highest number of contributions. Collaboration analysis showed significant networks among universities in high-income countries, including the University of North Carolina, Emory University, the University of Michigan, San Diego State University, the University of Pennsylvania, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The discrepancy highlights missed opportunities in strategic partnerships between high-income and low-income countries. The results further demonstrate that machine learning and health technologies enhance the effective and efficient implementation of innovative HIV testing methods, including HIV self-testing among priority populations.ConclusionsThis study identifies trends and hotspots of machine learning and health technology research in relation to HIV testing across various countries, institutions, journals, and authors. The trends are higher in high-income countries with a greater focus on technology applications for HIV self-testing among young people and priority populations. These insights will inform future researchers about the dynamics of research outputs and help them make scholarly decisions to address research gaps in this field.

The aim of this study is to identify research directions focused on epidural hematoma (EDHs) from past to present using bibliometric approaches, uncover current research trends through keyword analyses, delineate global productivity, and identify impactful studies through citation analyses. The study obtained 1785 articles related to EDH published between January 1, 1980, and December 31, 2023, from the Web of Science database, and comprehensive analyses were conducted using various bibliometric and statistical approaches. These analyses include citation and co-citation analyses, trend keyword analysis, multiple correspondence analysis, thematic evolution analysis, and various other bibliometric analyses. The bibliometric analyses were performed using Biblioshiny and VOSviewer. The top 3 journals contributing the most to the literature were Acta Neurochirurgica (n = 56, 3.1%), British Journal of Neurosurgery (48, 2.6%), and Neurosurgery (47, 2.6%). According to the h-index, the most influential top 3 journals were Neurosurgery (h = 27), Acta Neurochirurgica (h = 23), and Surgical Neurology (h = 21). Based on the m-index, the most influential top 3 journals were World Neurosurgery (m = 0.9), Medicine (m = 0.63), and Neurosurgery (m = 0.6). The most active country was the United States of America (n = 593), the most active author was Mahapatra AK (n = 10), and the most active institution was Harvard University (n = 25). Research interest in EDH has evolved over time, with notable increases in publication trends in 1968, 1982, and 1988, peaking in 1996 and 2004. Bibliometric analyses indicate that key topics such as spinal EDH, head injuries, magnetic resonance imaging, spontaneous spinal EDH, computed tomography, spine, complications, epidural, anticoagulants, pediatric cases, and trauma have stood out in EDH research. Trend analysis findings have shown an increasing focus on specific areas such as clinical management approaches, treatment methods, postoperative complications, risk factors, pediatric cases, as well as specific conditions like paralysis and cauda equina syndrome. Multiple correspondence analysis identified 6 core research dimensions, focusing on acute trauma management, surgical interventions, complications management, risk assessment, surgical outcomes, and incidence analysis.

This study conducts a bibliometric analysis of global trends in 'artificial intelligence studies in veterinary medicine'. The analysis aims to summarise the publications of researchers from various disciplines related to artificial intelligence in veterinary medicine, thereby predicting future trends of AI in this field. The primary objective of the study is to investigate publications pertaining to artificial intelligence in veterinary medicine worldwide and to analyse trends and future developments in this area. This bibliometric study examines artificial intelligence research in veterinary medicine conducted worldwide from 1990 to 2024. To achieve this, a search using the keywords 'artificial intelligence' and 'veterinary medicine' was performed in the Web of Science (WOS) database, resulting in the identification of 1497 studies. After excluding irrelevant publications and those outside the scope of articles, a total of 1400 articles were included in the analysis. The data collection process utilised titles, author names, publication years, journal names, and citation counts. All textual data were analysed using VOSviewer software to ensure accuracy and reliability. In this study, analyses conducted through text mining and data visualisation techniques (e.g., bubble maps) facilitated a clearer understanding of the results. This study presents information about 1400 articles obtained from the WOS database and a total of 44,700 citations for these articles. The average number of citations per article is 32, with an H-index of 74. A rapid increase in both the number of articles and citations has been observed since 2019. The majority of the articles (30%) were published in the fields of veterinary sciences, artificial intelligence, and computer sciences. The United States, Taiwan and the United Kingdom are the leading countries, accounting for 84% of the published articles in this field. Additionally, 12% of the articles were published in the area of veterinary sciences, and 85% of the articles fall within the SCI-Expanded category. The findings of our study indicate that there are numerous active researchers in the field of artificial intelligence in veterinary medicine and that research in this area is steadily increasing. This bibliometric analysis highlights global trends and significant works in artificial intelligence within veterinary medicine, providing valuable insights into the future directions of research in this field. As the analysis aims solely to identify trends and patterns in the literature, it does not intend to evaluate the applicability of the subject matter. Analysis of Global Trends: This study comprehensively analyses the global trends and effects of research on artificial intelligence in veterinary medicine. In this context, it contributes to the identification of significant changes and developments in the literature. Rapidly Spreading Research: Research on artificial intelligence in veterinary medicine has rapidly expanded in recent years, and this trend is expected to continue. The increase in studies indicates an expansion of knowledge and applications in this field. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Tools: Artificial intelligence research serves as a valuable tool in veterinary medicine, particularly in improving the diagnosis and treatment processes for various diseases. This contributes to the development of more effective methods for animal health and care. Increasing Number of Publications: The number of studies on artificial intelligence in veterinary medicine worldwide is increasing each year. Notably, after the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been a significant rise in publications in this field. This indicates that the importance of artificial intelligence in both human and animal health has grown, with the pandemic intensifying research interest. Prominent Countries: Among the countries examined in the study, the United States, Taiwan, England, and Germany emerged as leaders in this research area. Conversely, it was noted that some countries have very few or no academic publications in the field of artificial intelligence in veterinary medicine.

Sustainable leadership is a necessity to achieve the goals of sustainable development, such as addressing complex global issues, preserving environmental and social balance, ensuring the well-being of future generations, and promoting innovation. Sustainable leadership in education is important to contribute to sustainable development goals by equipping future generations with environmental, social, and economic responsibilities and integrating sustainability principles into the education system. This study aims to determine the current state of research containing the term "sustainable leadership" by conducting a bibliometric analysis using the Web of Science (WoS) database. The VOSviewer software is employed to visually represent the data obtained from the WoS database. According to the comprehensive bibliometric analysis results, research related to the theme of "sustainable leadership" began to emerge in 2002, with a total of 390 publications identified in the period from 2002 to 2023. The majority of these publications are in the form of articles, reflecting the interest and curiosity within academic circles in this field. However, considering the lower presence of other document types such as conference papers, book chapters, and review articles, there appears to be a growing need for these types of sources. The bibliometric analysis reveals that research on sustainable leadership is predominantly published in the form of articles, with a significant increase observed, particularly in publications from 2019. The VOSviewer analysis of the "sustainable leadership" field categorizes the most commonly used terms into three clusters: "sustainability", "sustainable leadership", and "leadership". In terms of the distribution of articles in the field of sustainable leadership by citing countries, the countries with the highest number of citations are Thailand, South Africa, the United States, and China, respectively. The findings of the analysis are believed to contribute as a resource for future research and benefit researchers in exploring potential topics related to the theme of sustainable leadership in the near future. Additionally, it is noted that there is limited research on sustainable leadership in Turkey, and recommendations are provided for its further development.

Gasification of coal is a useful method for produce clean and efficient energy. This study was carried out to find out the various trends in scientific studies that provide literature for the field of coal gasification on world. All data used in this study have been reached from Web of Science database. In this study, the coal gasification related to both bibliometric and historical analyses were investigated. The Web of Science database was scanned for the articles about coal gasification between the years of 1989 and 2020. The considered parameters in the bibliometric analysis are the number of citations and documents, authorships and ownerships, patterns of international collaborations and addresses.

Background. A comprehensive understanding of Iran's nursing system, its future trajectory, and the identification and comparison of scientific outputs in nursing research at the national level are of great significance. Therefore, this study was conducted to bibliometrically analyze Iranian articles in nursing using the Web of Science database. Methods. This study employed bibliometric analysis techniques. The research population consists of scientific outputs by Iranian researchers in nursing, indexed in the Web of Science citation database. Data were collected on October 8, 2023, from the Web of Science Core Collection, and relevant publications were screened from 1972 (the beginning of recorded data) to October 8, 2023 (the date of data collection). In the following, Excel and Biblioshiny software were used for bibliometric analysis, and VOS Viewer software was used to draw scientific maps. Results. A total of 3,527 documents were retrieved. The results indicated an upward trend in publication growth, with the earliest record dating back to 1972. The highest number of publications was recorded in 2021, with 515 documents. Original research articles constituted the majority of publications, while single-author documents were limited. Overall, 20.44% of the articles involved international collaboration. Fazlollah Ahmadi and Isa Mohammadi were identified as the most prolific authors in nursing research, while Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, and Tabriz University of Medical Sciences were recognized as the top three institutions in nursing-related scientific output. In terms of international collaboration networks in nursing research, the highest level of cooperation was observed between Iran and the United States, followed by Iran and Australia. Keyword analysis revealed that "care," "health," and "nurses" were the most frequently used terms among researchers. Additionally, co-occurrence network analysis showed the highest co-occurrence between the keywords "Iran" and "nursing," with 147 occurrences. Conclusion. The continuous growth of nursing research in Iran highlights its significant role in regional and global healthcare knowledge. This bibliometric study identified key trends, including the rise in international collaborations, the impact of prolific contributors, and a diverse research focus. Strengthening institutional support and expanding global partnerships are essential to sustain and enhance this trajectory. Such efforts will reinforce evidence-based practices and improve the quality of nursing education and healthcare delivery in Iran.

Brucellosis is a zoonotic infection that poses a threat to both human and animal health. The aim of this study is to investigate the publication trends in research on canine brucellosis and to determine the changes and general characteristics of the disease throughout history using bibliometric analysis. For this reason, we conducted a bibliometric analysis of 316 articles published in the Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases from 1980 to 2022. The analysis was performed using the RStudio-Bibliometrix package and the Biblioshiny application. The publications included contributions from a total of 1241 authors. In addition, a total of 804 keywords plus and 398 author keywords were identified. The earliest study among the top 10 most cited articles dates back to 1985, while the most recent one was published in 2011. The majority of the publications were published in the years 2012 (n=17) and 2014 (n=17). The United States of America (USA) (n=55), Brazil (n=40), and Argentina (n=25) were identified as the countries with the highest number of published articles. Notably, Switzerland ranked first in terms of the average number of citations per article category (n=55.50), despite only two publications being attributed to this country. Keid L. (n=15), Lucero N. (n=14), Carmichael L. (n=13), and Kim J. (n=13) emerged as the most prolific contributors. Lucero N. obtained the highest number of total citations (TC=408). In the initial years of publication, the disease was predominantly characterized by keywords such as "brucellosis," "infection," "abortus," and "Brucella canis". However, keywords related to diagnosis and treatment, such as "diagnosis," "serodiagnosis," "vaccine," and "agar gel," gained significance and became increasingly relevant. The themes and sub-themes identified through this study can provide a basis for further investigation and scientific inquiry, thus contributing to the development of new research questions and opportunities for future studies.

The purpose of this study is to perform a bibliometric analysis of articles on misconception in the education research category of the Web of Science (WoS) database. Bibliometric analyses are carried out to identify conceptual developments in a subject area, trends of researchers over time, themes researched, changes in the boundaries of disciplines, and the most productive academics, institutions, or countries and to present the “big picture”. This study used the descriptive survey model. In line with the purpose of the study, the keywords “misconception” and “misconceptions” were searched in “topic” in the WoS database using the “OR” option. As a result of the survey carried out on 12.01.2023, 3,545 articles were accessed. The obtained data were analyzed using the “bibliometrix” package in the RStudio programming language, included in the open-source R program. Journal of Chemical Education (f=310) was found to be the journal publishing the most articles on misconception in the WoS database, and the academics with the most studies were determined to be Bretz S. L., Treagust D. F., and Geban, O. The authors whose studies on misconception have the highest h-index values are Bretz S. L., Treagust D. F., and Sanger M. J. The first three countries producing the most articles on misconception are the USA, Turkey, and the United Kingdom, and the researchers who have the most international collaborations with researchers from different countries are also from the USA (83 articles). The most used keywords are “misconception/misconceptions”, “conceptual change”, and “science education”. This study is anticipated to present a comprehensive and detailed projection for academics who plan to conduct research in the subject area of misconception. In addition to different studies may be designed focusing on other dimensions of concept teaching.

Purpose This study outlines the key research areas, recent trends and future research directions in information communication technologies (ICTs) enabled entrepreneurship, as research activities on ICTs in entrepreneurship have gained significant momentum in recent decades, driven by technological advancements and business innovativeness. Design/methodology/approach In this paper, we used a bibliometric systematic literature review, including citation, co-citation and keyword analysis of 182 documents published from 2005 to 2024 and exported from the Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases. We have also utilized bibliometric coupling analysis to determine emerging themes in this area. Findings The most productive year was 2023, and the most productive journal, institute and country are the “Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development,” “Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications” and the UK, respectively. The “Journal of Enterprise Information Management” is the most influential journal. A future research direction is proposed based on the six emerging clusters and identified gaps. Research limitations/implications The study is based on the exclusive use of the Scopus and WoS databases, which could be expanded to other databases. Only articles were considered, excluding book chapters and conference papers. Originality/value The study is distinctive as it recognizes the intellectual structure and advancement in ICT-enabled entrepreneurship. By comprehensively reviewing the existing literature, the study proposes a novel conceptual framework to serve as a foundation for future studies, offering significant insights for academics and practitioners to navigate the evolving landscape of this area.

IntroductionMelanoma is a severe skin cancer that metastasizes quickly. Bibliometric analysis can quantify hotspots of research interest. Google Trends can provide information to address public concerns.MethodsThe top 15 most frequently cited articles on melanoma each year from 2015 to 2019, according to annual citations, were retrieved from the Web of Science database. Original articles, reviews, and research letters were included in this research. For the Google Trends analysis, the topic “Melanoma” was selected as the keyword. Online search data from 2004 to 2019 were collected. Four countries (New Zealand, Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom) were selected for seasonal analysis. Annual trends in relative search volume and seasonal variation were analyzed, and the top related topics and rising related topics were also selected and analyzed.ResultsThe top 15 most frequently cited articles each year were all original articles that focused on immunotherapy (n=8), omics (n=5), and the microbiome (n=2). The average relative search volume remained relatively stable across the years. The seasonal variation analysis revealed that the peak appeared in summer, and the valley appeared in winter. The diseases associated with or manifestations of melanoma, treatment options, risk factors, diagnostic tools, and prognosis were the topics in which the public was most interested. Most of the topics revealed by bibliometric and Google Trends analyses were consistent, with the exception of issues related to the molecular biology of melanoma.ConclusionThis study revealed the trends in research interest and public interest in melanoma, which may pave the way for further research.

As the tremendous development in the field of consumer behaviour of SUV users in the automobile industry is going on, this study aims to conduct an extensive bibliometric analysis to manifest an outline of the research conducted during the past two decades. From 2002 to 2021, a dataset of 256 articles has been retrieved from the Web of Science (WoS) database as of 10-04-2022. The results of the study show that consumer behaviour research has been steadily expanding in recent years. Furthermore, it provides a deeper insight into publication trends, most productive authors, institutions, countries, and journals by using VOSviewer. The major studies were conducted in developed nations, i.e., USA, Australia, and Canada. Moreover, keyword network analysis provides potential research avenues, hence future studies might focus on separating research themes using bibliometric coupling analysis. This paper's contribution is to enlarge the diffusion trend of this emerging field to the bibliometric techniques.

This study aimed to identify and investigate the main characteristics of the top 100 most cited studies on conflict in published in nursing category in the Web of Science database using bibliometric and social network analysis methods. A retrospective bibliometric analysis was used. The study data were obtained from the Web of Science (WoS) database. The top 100 studies with the highest number of citations were included in the study. The study data were analysed with Excel and SPSS and they were visualized with VOSviewer. It was concluded that the studies in the research were published in 38 different journals between 1974-2019 and they were conducted by 245 different authors from 24 different countries. It was further reported that the Journal of Advanced Nursing was the most productive journal and the USA was the most productive country. The most commonly used keywords were "nurse," "conflict," "nursing," "job satisfaction," "work-family conflict" and "ethical conflict." The issue of conflict is a growing field of scientific study for nursing researchers. The quality of researches will be certainly enhanced in future with the studies published in journals with high impact factors. The research of the top 100 most cited paper is a new and innovative bibliometric approach to understand nursing literature. There is very little information about the development, structure and characteristics of the existing mass of knowledge on conflict in nursing studies. The study findings establish a basis of information for planning further studies and providing guidance. In addition, this study provides researchers, scientific journals, institutions and countries with an opportunity to assess and compare their own performance in conflict literature in nursing studies. However, the fact that the most cited studies in the field of conflict in nursing is in demand by journals with high impact factor is a source of motivation for researchers studying in this field.
