Abstract

The investigation of contaminated sites as well as remediation processes normally needs the characterization of samples of highly inhomogeneous material. The use of large volume samples or the production of well homogenized samples is time consuming and only a bad solution to reach reliable results in soil analysis. The best way from the statistical point of view is collecting as many samples as possible and get results by high speed analyses for each sample. The needed high level of information concerning identification and quantification of organic contaminants in complex mixtures can favourably be gained by GC-MS-techniques.
