Abstract

TOPSIS is a well-known technique in multiple criteria decisionmaking and has found several applications in recent years.However, as mentioned in literature TOPSIS has severalshortcomings. In this paper, we present an extension of TOPSISmethod to determine the weight of decision makers (DMs) inmultiple attribute group decision making problems with intervalinformation. Our method is based on the concept that the bestalternative is closer to the positive ideal solution and far awayfrom the negative ideal solution, simultaneously. The contributionof the proposed method is that while it overcomes the shortcomingsof the TOPSIS method it can be used to weight the decision makingteam and rankingthe alternatives, as well. The method is illustrated through two examples
