Abstract

The mechanism of polishing glass with barnesite has been studied by obtaining information with multiple-beam fringes of equal chromatic order. This information may be considered support for the Thompson planing theory and no evidence is found to support the Beilby flow theory. The cutting rate and local smoothness as functions of bowl-feed polishing time are reported for one concentration of barnesite in water.
