Driven by global climate change and Net Zero policies, green supply chain management has become the key to the competition of global enterprises. Carbon emissions and environmental impact have become important factors that must be considered in the supply chain operation process. Among them, supplier selection is the first process in supply chain operation. Although many studies have discussed the related issues of green supplier assessment, the potential risks of some environmental impacts are still not comprehensive enough, plus it is difficult to assess the potential risks of suppliers on the Internet, because the process of text data analysis and evaluation is not only time-consuming and costly, but also unable to obtain the latest supplier risk information on time. This study applies natural language processing(NLP) model and life cycle assessment(LCA) to develop a green supplier risk evaluation system. The potential risk assessment of suppliers can be achieved through the KeyExtractor’s keyword extraction method. The main contribution of this study is to develop a novel green supplier evaluation method based on deep learning models to promote the implementation of green procurement and reduce the carbon footprint of suppliers. Practically, the proposed method automates supplier risk assessment, not only can obtain the latest information and trends of supplier risk on time and reduce the time and cost of risk analysis. Hence, the competitiveness of enterprises would be enhanced.

Following the big transformations of the 1990s, enterprise structure and technological level seem to have become stabilised in Hungary. Under these circumstances it is especially interesting to identify the elements responsible for competitiveness in general, and the role technology plays in development in particular, according to managers experienced in production and marketing. This empirical study - based on in-depth interviews and field research - summarises characteristics of the technological level in the sectors examined, role of technology and labour in production, effects of foreign direct investment, relations between competition and firm-level factors determining competitiveness, and concludes by summing up those most frequently mentioned proposals that should be incorporated into economic policy according to managers. Main findings indicate that more qualified, more intensive and cheaper labour can be substituted for high technology. The competitiveness of an enterprise is not determined by technology alone, but rather by a combination of technology, the parameters of available labour and the costs of investment increasing productivity. The insufficiency of inter-company relations, together with a shortage of available assets necessary for investment constitute the major threat undermining the competitiveness of enterprises in present-day Hungary.

The economic and social changes taking place in the environment mean that the conditions in which enterprises operate and compete are changing and demanding. This also applies to food industry enterprises, the economic importance is emphasized by many economists. The literature on this subject lacks research on the current factors influencing the competitiveness of food industry enterprises. Thus, the aim of the study was to adopt a multidimensional assessment of the importance of selected components of competitive potential in building the international competitiveness of food industry enterprises. The following research hypothesis was adopted: the key components of the competitive potential of food industry enterprises are intangible. To achieve the main goal and verify the research hypothesis, the empirical study uses information collected using a CATI survey among representatives of food industry enterprises in Poland. The analysis used descriptive statistics, the Mann‒Whitney test, the Kruskal‒Wallis test and exploratory factor analysis, which are rarely used in research on competitiveness. Research has shown that the most important component of competitiveness is intangible assets. The punctuality of deliveries, product quality, company image and relations with suppliers and recipients play special roles. According to factor analysis, four general factors related to competitive potential were distinguished: internal competences and activities, material resources, marketing and clusters, and the market. The results of the study fill a knowledge gap related to the current competitiveness factors of food companies. On a practical level, identifying competitive potential helps improve the ability to compete, better adapt to the environment and gain a sustainable competitive advantage in international markets.

This study examines the factors affecting the improvement of business results based on agency theory and management theory. To conduct this study, the author uses the method of theoretical synthesis from the authors' articles on the same topic. From there, a research model is proposed, including the factors of corporate social responsibility (CSR), technological capacity, corporate governance, and business results of the enterprise. Among the above factors, most other studies have demonstrated that corporate governance and CSR factors have an impact on the business results of the enterprise. However, the impact and the mechanism still need to be clarified. In addition, the trend of technology application is increasing, so the study considers the factor of technological capacity as a mediation variable and exploits the relationship between these factors (direct and indirect) between corporate governance, social responsibility, and business results. By affirming the capabilities that make up the competitiveness of enterprises, the article affirms the direct impact of technological capabilities on the business results of enterprises. In addition, this theoretical framework is a significant contribution to the literature, from which some managerial implications are also proposed as well as other empirical studies can be deployed to test the model.

ABSTRACTWith the advent of the knowledge economy, technology has become the foundation of advancement for many enterprises. To maintain a lasting competitive edge, enterprises must accurately determine the competitiveness of particular technologies. However, emerging innovations are becoming more and more complex, and interdisciplinary trends complicate matters even further. In the competitiveness evaluation based on patent, traditional patent classifications are both loose and time-sensitive. In this paper, we constructed the evaluation model of enterprise’s technology competitiveness based on the technological topics generated by a latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) topic model. LDA topic model is able to classify technologies into narrower categories and can, therefore, provide rich information on the competitive landscape of a field. Two indexes are used to determine the technological competitiveness of an enterprise in the model – a specialisation index and a diversification index. At the same time, we explore the distribution of enterprises with different technological topics through the relative share, the technology’s appeal, and the competitive advantage that technology might give an enterprise. The empirical study on intelligent connected vehicles validates the model, and the results provide theoretical support for developing R&D strategies and/or making investment decisions.

Competitiveness is a fundamental indicator of great importance for the functioning of both enterprises and national economies. A number of factors influence the assessment of an enterprise's competitiveness. Among these factors is innovation activity. For Bulgaria wine production is a traditional sector with potential for development in different directions. Given the increasing competition on the domestic and world wine market, a research of the Bulgarian wine industry is more than necessary. One of the directions that can contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the sector is increasing the innovation activity of the wine producers. In this sense, the aim of this study is to conceptualize the role of innovation activity as an element of competitiveness, and in particular its role in improving the competitiveness of the wine industry. For this purpose, a number of theoretical sources and empirical studies on innovation activity and competitiveness in both general and wine-making are reviewed. Systematization of the studied literature was made and summaries were made about the possible contribution of the innovation activity in improving the competitiveness of Bulgarian wine production.

While the business environment is becoming more and more uncertain, flexible strategy has become a strategic weapon for enterprises to use to create a lasting competitive advantage. This article divides the enterprise competitiveness into three essential factors: management capacity, financial capacity and market capacity. On this basis two modes are defined as using the flexible strategy and not using the flexible strategy, a theoretical model between the corporate strategy and competitive level is built as well. The empirical analysis concludes that flexible strategy has significant positive impacts on financial capacity and market capacity, which means there are significant positive impacts on enterprise's property scale, the main business income, productivity, market control, the brand effect, the research and development level, etc. However, there is no significantly impact on enterprise management capability.

Multipoint competition and “mutual forbearance hypothesis” are always an important issue in researches of industrial organization economic school and strategic management domain. However, so far most empirical studies only investigate the relationship between multipoint competition and mutual forbearance of domestic enterprises, therefore, this research aims to take multinational enterprises (MNEs) as sample, examining multipoint competition in international context, further delineates whether it will incur mutual forbearance between MNEs and decrease inter-firm rivalry. On the other hand, the empirical studies of multipoint competition and mutual forbearance hypothesis in the past had reached different results, therefore, by applying two conditions of mutual forbearance, market importance and internal associatibility, and extending them into international context, this research investigates the contingency perspectives of mutual forbearance. Furthermore, this is the first research that uses competitor’s actions as multipoint competition’s dependent variable, and further delineates its effect on MNEs’ performance. By doing this, we not only amplify multipoint competition research, also compensate researches of MNEs that rarely investigate the effect of MNEs’ rivalry on their performance. The data of this research are surveyed from top 20 firms of global container shipping industry by collecting data of these firms from 2007 to 2009 in quarterly timeframe. Data are reached from shipping firm’s website and Asx-Alphaliner which discloses data of shipping firms each year. Moreover, for shipping firm’s competitive action, this research firstly retrieves relative news from Cyber Shipping Guide (CSG), and then employs “structured content analysis” method to construct competitive action database of top 20 shipping firms. After careful process of news identification and further discussion, 23 types of competitive action are identified, and the total actions taken by top 20 shipping firms during 2007 to 2009 are 2,984. Finally, hierarchical regression analysis is applied to carry on statistical analysis. For the sake of making hypothesis development more consistent, this research introduces awareness, motivation and capability (AMC) perspective to reason how international multimarket contact (IMMC) affects competitor’s action, also how local competitive density, local regulatory restriction and international market importance moderate the relationship between IMMC and competitor’s action. We also delineate the linkage between competitor’s action and firm performance in this research. The empirical finding shows: (1) focal firm has higher IMMC with competitors will incur lesser competitor’s action; (2) when focal firm faces higher local competitive density, it will weaken the negative relationship between IMMC and number of competitor’s actions; (3) if a international market has much importance for a MNE, it will strengthen the negative relationship between IMMC and number of competitor’s actions. Above all, by examining MNEs’ multipoint competition and investigating the contingency factors that can moderate the relationship between multipoint competition and mutual forbearance, this research fulfils the gap of past studies of multipoint competition. Moreover, this research also enriches multipoint competition research by introducing competitor’s action and AMC perspective of competitive dynamics research. In practice, this research also provides the way firms adjust their strategies.

Small businesses contribute significantly in economy. However, a significant number of small businesses fail in five to ten years. Can knowledge sharing in these businesses make a difference? Research has found that knowledge sharing enhances organisational competitiveness and growth in medium and large enterprises. However, there is a lack of empirical studies on knowledge sharing in the domain of small businesses. This research aims to close the gap by developing a model for understanding knowledge sharing in small businesses. The model will be primarily built on Lipshitz et al.’s naturalistic decision modelling approach, Rogers’ innovation diffusion theory, and Ajzen & Fishbein’s theory of reasoned action. The model presents various factors and variables affecting knowledge sharing in small businesses in detail, and thus has both theoretical and practical implications. For the model, hypotheses are proposed, which will be tested in future empirical studies.

Sustainable development has emerged as a crucial factor enhancing the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in light of societal expectations and government regulations. Within this context, innovation assumes a significant role in this challenge, particularly for smaller companies facing greater obstacles in fostering innovation. These constraints have prompted both internal and external innovation initiatives, commonly referred to as open innovation. In this article, we scrutinize the influence of environmental practices on innovation endeavors, specifically examining whether the innovation strategy and its implementation facilitate the advancement of open innovation within SMEs. Furthermore, we explore the potential moderating effect of firm owners' gender on these relationships. The research model is validated using data from 543 companies in Ecuador, employing the partial least squares (PLS) method. The findings elucidate how environmental sustainability can promote the adoption of open innovation practices, with the innovation strategy and its implementation acting as mediators in this relationship. The impact of gender only manifests in the innovation strategy pertaining to environmental sustainability. In conclusion, open innovation stemming from the pivotal role of environmental sustainability emerges as a critical driver in augmenting innovation performance across various dimensions, such as quality, growth, efficiency, process enhancement, organizational practices, employee motivation, and acquisition of new product/service skills.

In recent years, with the proposal of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative, the domestic economy and its development have entered a new normal, which has promoted the determination and connection of the development strategies of various countries. It has brought new opportunities for the development of domestic enterprises. In this context, it has become a trend for Chinese enterprises to go international, especially in the construction industry; due to the good potential of the “Belt and Road” initiative, it is necessary to change and update from the traditional construction industry to modern construction industry. Therefore, how to promote the coordinated development of the construction company's resource management system, meet the needs of the company's own development, and adapt to the goals of internationalization and modern management have become a problem that people are very concerned about. The current domestic environmental situation is improving in part, but it is deteriorating in general. The harm caused by environmental pollution and damage is becoming more and more obvious. The construction industry is one of the national pillar industries, and it is also an industry with high energy consumption and high pollution. Based on this, this study first introduces construction enterprise management and resource optimization methods and integrates ecological environmental protection into enterprise operating cost management. Second, it establishes an enterprise-centric resource allocation model and optimization algorithm. An empirical study was carried out on the ecological management capabilities of three construction enterprises of different sizes, namely, Industrial Group, Group A, and Construction Enterprise B, and concluded that the overall level of environmental competitiveness of construction enterprises in my country is not high, among the environmental management and construction capabilities of enterprises. The standardization ability of ecological engineering construction is relatively weak, resulting in poor overall profitability of the enterprise, and the number of green suppliers does not meet the needs of ecological development. However, under the constraints of the ecological environment, construction enterprises compete with each other to control operating costs and at the same time affect the environment. At the same time, the allocation of resources by enterprises is also more conducive to the development of ecological civilization in the industry.
