Abstract

This paper investigates induction cookers with multicoils to improve their heating performances. Two multicoils solutions are proposed to replace the traditional single coil design. The eddy currents and power losses distributions of the systems are analyzed using finite-element method. A switched exciting method for driving the multicoils is adopted. Furthermore, thermal fields on the induction pan are computed to evaluate the thermal performances of the proposed multicoils systems. A prototype of the proposed multicoils system has been developed and undergone validation experiments. The testing results indicate that the proposed solution is capable of providing more uniform thermal distribution, as well as flexible and sound heating-control functions.
