Abstract

Objectives: Visceral fat volume has been shown to better predict surgical complexity than Body Mass Index. While more frequently cited, BMI is fundamentally inaccurate at predicting surgical outcome. Previously we tried to correlate Waist:Hip ratio with lymph node count or surgical complications, with no success. This study re-tested this same dataset using novel estimators of visceral fat which utilized readily available bodily measures.
