Abstract

Condition monitoring (CM) plays a vital role in overall machine health diagnostics and its prognosis. This paper presents a literature review of methodology used to detect failure in Induction Machine using Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA). Well analyzed electrical signals can easily show difference between the running operation of healthy and faulty machines. Hence, stator current spectrum of healthy and faulty machines is studied. Stator Current possessesdifferentiated features which are crucial for the effective detection and classification of failures in Induction Machine. The signal processing technique based on both time and frequency domain is applied to analyze the stator current signature spectrum in order to interpret the fault in Induction Machine. This paper demonstrate various case studies carried by different authors which bolster justification of Motor Current Signature Analysis to be a relevant condition monitoring technique.
