Abstract

In this paper, the presence of the motif of the eternal groom is analyzed on the basis of four works by three authors: Memoirs by Simeon Piščević, two short stories by Laza Lazarević, The Wind and The German Girl, and the novel The Eternal Groom by Jakov Ignjatović. The paper deals with the analysis of individual repre- sentatives of the gallant type of heroes, as well as the observation of parallels in their common features that distinguish these characters and make them specific in the mass of others. We will demonstrate that the “eternal groom” type of hero is more widespread in Serbian literature than it seems. The type of hero who is a powdered suitor and a gallant lover is present
