Abstract

This paper is concerned with a practical method to displace a droplet along a vibrating beam. This method is based on the movement of the droplet sliding toward an anti-node of vibration. These phenomena are explained by the action of acoustic radiation pressure. The displacement along the beam is obtained by using different modes of vibration. The vibration level required to move the droplet is compared with the one needed for its spraying. The physical significance of our results is discussed.
