Abstract

AbstractRecent theoretical studies have pointed out that a relatively small degree of dispersion between chaotic subpopulations produces predictable, simple dynamics and severely reduces the frequency of the occurrene of chaos. In this paper, we show that the introduction of mortality to models which are initially chaotic, alone or combined with dispersal, can produce similar effects.
