Abstract

Actinocyclus normanii f. subsalsa (Juhl.-Dannf.) Hust. from Put-In-Bay, Lake Erie, U.S.A., and A. normanii (Greg.) Hust. f. normanii from the river Wümme near Bremen, Germany, and Rio Magdalena, Columbia, were examined using light and electron microscopes. It was concluded that Hustedt (1957) had placed the species in the correct genus, since it has a pseudonodulus, one marginal ring of prominent labiate processes, and a fasciculated valve areolation. No further distinction between the two forms was observed, other than those suggested by Hustedt, namely size and ecology.
