Abstract

The article presents the results of histological examination of the incus bone tissue in patients with tympanosclerosis, which indicate the destruction of bone tissue with prevalence of sclerotic processes and the absence of signs of exacerbation. For comparison, the pathological changes in the incus bone tissue were studied in cases of cholesteatoma and caries-granulation processes developing in the middle ear in chronic otitis media. The obtained data support the assumption that tympanosclerosis is a slowly progressing dystrophic disease, accompanied by destruction of bone tissue.
