Abstract
ABSTRACT To the Editor:— The paper by I. Rappaport and M. A. Shiffman, Multiple Phlebectasia Involving Jejunum, Oral Cavity, and Scrotum (JAMA185:437 [Aug 10] 1963) described a group of lesions not previously noted to be associated. The occasional instance of bleeding from jejunal phlebectasia makes recognition of the concomitant mucocutaneous vascular malformations extremely important. Since that paper was published, three new cases of multiple phlebectasia have been noted at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Long Beach, Calif. The intestinal lesions were restricted to the jejunum in two cases, and an additional lesion was noted in the proximal ileum in another. Two patients had no history of peptic ulcer or upper gastrointestinal bleeding. The third patient had a diagnosis of peptic ulcer for nine years associated with intermittent hematemesis and melena. The ages ranged from 62 to 76.A total of six cases of multiple phlebectasia have now been noted. Careful
