Abstract

Freiberg's Infraction is an aseptic avascular necrosis of the second to the fifth metatarsal head in the adolescence skeleton. It is characterised by pain under the metatarsal head and radiographic joint destruction and disease occurs four times more frequently in girls than in age-matched boys. The etiology is attributed to various theories of AVN. The choice between conservative and surgical treatment depends on the disease stage.
