Abstract

Dewasa ini masyarakat Baduy mengalami dilema moral dalam pendidikan. Dilema moral terlihat dari dua pilihan yaitu di satu sisi sekolah ditolak karena dianggap bertentangan dengan adat atau tradisi. Orang Baduy yang bersekolah terbukti banyak yang meninggalkan tradisi dan adat Baduy. Di sisi lain sekolah diterima karena menjadi sarana untuk mencapai kehidupan yang sejahtera. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dilema moral pendidikan dalam masyarakat Baduy yang terbagi atas masyarakat Baduy Dalam dan Baduy Luar serta merumuskan jenis pendidikan yang sesuai dengan budaya mereka. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif, dengan menggunakan metode studi kasus. Data-data diperoleh dari wawancara mendalam dengan para informan sedangkan analisis penelitian menggunakan analisis kritis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat Baduy menempati tingkat kesadaran moral konvensional, yaitu moralitas kelompok menjadi ukuran kebaikan, hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa terdapat orang-orang yang kritis yang menempati tingkat kesadaran pasca konvensional. Berdasarkan atas tingkat kesadaran moral ini maka jenis pendidikan yang sesuai dengan budaya masyarakat Baduy Dalam adalah pendidikan nonformal yang diorientasikan untuk memperkuat adat dan tradisi; dan bagi masyarakat Baduy Luar jenis pendidikan yang sesuai adalah pendidikan formal yang diorientasikan untuk kesejahteraan hidup komunitas.
 Baduy community nowadays experiences a moral dilemma in education. The moral dilemma can be seen from two choices, where on one side, the school was rejected because it was considered to be contrary to custom or tradition. Many of the Baduy people who go to school leave the traditions and customs of Baduy. On the other hand, the schools welcomed because they become a means to achieve a prosperous life. This research aims to describe the moral dilemma in the education of the Baduy community, which is divided into Baduy Dalam and Baduy Luar communities, and formulate the types of education following their culture. This is qualitative research using a case research method. The data were obtained by conducting in-depth interviews with informants, while the analysis method used was critical analysis. Results of the research indicated that Baduy people occupied the conventional moral awareness level, namely group morality, as a measure of goodness. The results also indicated that critical people occupied the post-conventional awareness level. Based on this moral awareness level, then the type of education following the culture of the Baduy Dalam community were non-formal education oriented to strengthen the customs and traditions. At the same time, the appropriate type of education for the Baduy Luar community was formal education oriented to the community's welfare.
