Abstract

Integral and differential elastic reflection coefficients are calculated by the Monte-Carlo method for 0.1 to 1.0 keV electrons normally incident on disordered surfaces of Ag, Ba and Au. Atomic differential elastic electron scattering cross sections are calculated within the partial waves expansion scheme with Hartree-Fock wavefunctions for both target atom and scattered electron. Calculated elastic reflection coefficients agree qualitatively with the experimental data. The contribution of multiply scattered electrons in total elastic reflectivity is found to be about 58 %.
