Abstract

Migdal's theory of finite Fermi systems has been applied to the calculation of electromagnetic moments and transitions for neighbouring even-odd nuclei of 208Pb. The p-h vertex is deduced from a bare nucleon-nucleon potential in a nuclear matter calculation and transposed to finite nuclei by means of a local density approximation. Comparison with experimental data shows almost the same fair agreement as the semiphenomenological treatment. For the configuration space two main shells above and below the Fermi surface were used.
