Abstract

Unsteady flow of binary mixture of monatomic gas (vapor and non-condensable gas) induced by a harmonic oscillation of interface of vapor-condensed phase are numerically investigated on the basis of the model Boltzmann equation for monatomic gas mixtures. In the case of M < Ω ≪ 1 where M is the Mach number of the oscillation interface and Ω is the nondimensional angular frequency, we find that evaporation and condensation of vapor at the interface take place periodically in time.
