Abstract

Research data on the design of molecular composites based on polyimides and several polymerizable monomers are analyzed and summarized. Polyimides are shown to activate, initiate, or act as chain transfer agents upon polymerization of lactams and vinyl monomers, to result in covalent bonding between rigid- and flexible-chain fragments. It is demonstrated that the design of polycondensation-polymerization molecular composites based on polyimides offers advantages and is promising for the manufacture of high-strength construction materials, electrical insulating films and coatings, membranes, as well as for application as nanocontainers, etc.
