Abstract

The calculation is presented of modulated absorption (MA) for superconductors with intrinsic weak links in the weak-connected loop model. The origin of MA is found to be dependent on the frequency band. In the RF case (0.1–10 MHz) it is due to interruption of the weak links while crossed by flux quanta; whereas in the MW band (10 GHz) MA is caused by non-linear interaction with Josephson supercurrent. The calculations are in good agreement with experimental MA curves obtained for YBaCuO samples in both frequency bands.
