Abstract

Waveguide horns have been extensively analysed by many authors, with broad agreement between the results of the various theoretical approaches, for medium- and high-gain horns. However, the approximations used in the calculation of the aperture fields are inaccurate when applied to low-gain horns, leading to errors in the calculated gain. A modified analysis is described, avoiding the most commonly used approximations. Experimental measurements on a 12 dB horn are used to substantiate the theory.
