Abstract

A simulation model of the 3D surface topography in ultra-precision flycutting machining is built in this paper. The influences of the cutting parameters, the cutting interference phenomenon, the relative vibration between the tool tip and the workpiece and the workpiece shape are analysed. The formation mechanism of the stripes along the cutting direction and the feed direction is explained. The simulation model can be used to optimize the cutting process of the ultra-precision flycutting machining, which avoids time and money consuming cutting experiments, and can also provide new ideas for tracing the source of the stripes on the surface topography.
