Abstract

Abstract Once-through boilers provide an excellent solution to address the ultimate need to increase the efficiency of energy production. Due the rapid technical innovation, fuel-flexible circulating fluidized bed combustion technology was successfully merged with once-through steam generation units. The development of the new technology requires intensive a priori simulation studies, which also provide the basis of control design. The present paper discusses modelling and control design issues related to a 460 MW e boiler.
